Client meeting!!!
Last Thursday was a milestone date for TUT: we had a meeting with our client-Mr.S. Mr.S is a tutor in Business School and he needs some inspiring games for his Marketing lectures. He knew us from the two trade fairs. However, until he saw our stall in the second fair he started to talk about the commission games with us. So, the excellent action of us plays an important role to attract clients.
Due to the pressure of massive assignment and homework, the members of TUT are not able to play games. Therefore this client is the key for us to make profit before the presentation. Everyone was expecting it and hope there would be a good result. Matteo designed the games for Mr.S and made a video with Himanshu. Shriya discussed the design of the games with Matteo and then modified them. Maria prepared the game kit as well as adjust it according to the new suggestion. Magena and Himanshu went to the meeting with Mr.S.
In the meeting we showed the disciplines of the games and explained the process of play and study. Mr.S was interested in the shorter game and told us in fact there are some constrains for the games such as: time, space and number of participants. I think we are mature enough to accept the unpredicted result: we need to develop the game again considering the constrains he gave. However, I didn’t forget to mention the process of commission work, following that we gave him the quote. This is important, isn’t it?
Now new games are under developing while the presentation date is approaching. Perhaps we can not have profit before this Friday but still we are very confident to have it before the closing of the business. Let’s just do it!
Meeting – April *1
We had our usual meeting on Saturday in a cafe, by the river in Kingston – beutiful day for togather to get together !!!
So after a short easter break we resumed. 3 weeks to go to our presentation so are going to give it a final push.
- So we have a new short game coming up on Friday ! We brainstormed always in a really funny and humourous way …..and after lots of really funny and extreme ideas …. we came up with one that we think will suit tales upon thames. watch our website around wednesday for anouncements !
- Then we discussed the game about word of mouth marketig. We were approached by David Stokes at the fair and he asked us to come up with a game for him. After an exchange of emails and after he send us some literature , we are now up to something. Matteo our storyteller guru came up with some nice ideas which we all discussed and developed during the meetings. Now we have to produce a Kit for game one and a video for game two.
- We discussed all questions about the presentation on the 30th and we all have to work on 2 questions each in more detail for our meeting next week.
Thats it ! A nice and productive meeting !
and here is a happy picture of TOGATHER having a picture break during the meeting
Spy Recruitment – Meeting – March *3
Instead of a meeting we played a game, continuing our marketing strategy !
This was our poster:
The game was a success ! visit the headquarters @ http://www.talesuponthames.com and join the gang on facebook @ http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=262279594056&ref=ts to see the winners and images of the game !
We got the prize sponsored by the cafeteria ,,,,cupcakes ! Asking little things works rather than asking for money from sponsors ……In fact the cafeteria instantly said no problem.
Also during the game people were really excited and there was a good energy ! It was really a success this game ! More are following for sure as thats the best way to introduce tales upon thames !
Our marketing strategy seems to be working ! the important thing is to keep the energy going !
Trade Faire “on Fire” – March *2
I know other teams performed very well last evening in the trade faire. PIKA even got three £20 order from three clients. But, what Tales Upon Thames have achieved is also a proud of us. At least our business is on the way. Would like to create more fun and fund soon.
The income can hardly cover our spending for preparing the faire. Maria even hurt her finger to bring her jar from London….
I call the installation of our stall”The London Eye project”. Isn’t it similar?
Each of us made effort to our games and if we can gear up for the last 5 weeks, I believe we will have a very successful business.
Meeting _ March*1
This was a really nice meeting !
We went to a cafe instead by the river, checked out by passport2guides!
In this meeting we discussed as a group issues about our smaller games , ideas and marketing strategy. Our marketing strategy is to run small introductory games around the campus.
YOu can view one here that we played in the bus…..however it was not as succesful. bus game
Our next introductory game was going to be the trade fair and was going to be spy oriented as this is our agenda ! So we focused to do a great stall and combine it with our video (see video)
We splitted into 2 groups
one discissed how the stall would look like
the other discussed the process of the game
Smaller groups were effective !
…..and this is a group photo at the end of our meeting !
Meetings – February*4
February was also focused on a branding surgery !
we scrapped what we had done in a usual macegroupone manner and decided that there would be one person now focusing on graphics but of course all discussing about it. So we had a little workshop inspired by shryias office experience in branding and we came up with something new !
And this is our new logo inspired from our previous one but using more vibrate colours and creating a mysterious feel. It also uses a coffee stain which is a typical image of detectives ! Overall an inspiration of mystery, typewritters, targets, neon colours, assasins, gangsters!
Meeting _ February *3
February was also focused on fuinding sponsors for our games. A good document ( click here ) was developed that introduced our company and the game (fakopoly) and then we started to knock on doors looking for sponsorships. Our aim was to get some money so that we good provide a nice prize for the winning team. Soon though we realised that companies dont give out cash that easily ! So we changed our plan! Since we wanted our prize to be an adventure trip to edinburgh we decided to contact hotels, traincompanies etc in order to get all the parts of a trip sponsored ! Even though we had lots of luck with sponsors ………it was pointed to us that once again we are taking a big step rather than small ones !
So we resumed ! We decided to focus on smaller short games rather than one big one !

Meetings – February *1
End of January and beginning of february were mainly focused on developing fakopoly in terms of the game and its rules as well as the graphic etc. The kit was a book and inside were hidden instructions, targets and a watergun!
This is what we had written about it:
Fakopoly is a 20 days 24/7 unique experience that will turn around routine at Kingston University.
Band up your ganster clan, receive your mission and eliminate other clans…before someone else gets rid of you!
Prove that you are smart enough to survive this war… and you and your team will win an incredible journey.
RULES:
…BEING THE HITMEN:
- Register you team and your clan name. If you don’t have any, apply as single and we will manage to provide you with a team.
- Receive your top-secret mission kit. It will contain your target team’s IDs, useful strategic informations and…your gun.
- Manage to find your target. Spy them and post the spotting (video or pics) of all 3 target members on game’s blog.
- Eliminate your target clan. Perform the action in one of the 10 most famous cinema assassination scenes (link to section). You can either eliminate the whole team at once or kill members one by one. Be sure that the scene is video recorded and posted on the game’s blog. ELIMINATIONS MUST BE PERFORMED FRONTALLY, FACE TO FACE… it’s gangsters’ ethic.
- Spoil your victims and get their own mission kit. This is your next mission!
- Manage to eliminate all participating teams and… win the game!
…BEING THE PREY:
- Well, well… you think that you were free to do what you want and remain unpunished? You’re in the middle of a clan war for the control of Kingston, man.. survive the crossfire!
- In the same moment you’re hunting your target clan, someone else will be in your tracks. That’s gangster life.
- Keep your eyes wide open. You can run, you can hide, you can camouflage. But you cannot kill your killers… they could even be your best friends, your family, your local butcher, your barber or hairdresser.
- What you can do, even if part of your team gets killed, is accomplish your mission. If you do it, you get them back into the game.
…quite simple, nah? show you have gut and join us [link to registration page]
DISCLAIMERS
- TOGATHER/TALESUPONTHAMES is not responsible for any offensive, damaging and violent action performed during the course of the game. The game’s rules and organizations, as stated, allow a non-violent and fair playing. Any real damage to people and things will be charged as participants’ only liability.
- TOGATHER/TALESUPONTHAMES reserves the right to gather up teams and disqualify teams whenever they are not following the game’s rules. Disappearing from Kingston is not accepted as save strategy. The Organization will periodically check all the teams’ presence in the game field (Kingston and KU campuses) for the whole duration of the game.
- TOGATHER/TALEUPONTHAMES will refund the participation fee only in case of game interruption due to circumstances beyond the organization’s control. No “the game sucks” or “I’ve been eliminated too easily” claims will be accepted.

About the Tickets
I estimated the ticket price again and try to get a picture what we should achieve and what we may achieve.
To get some profit ( £787 ) we should sell out 170 ticket at £10 each. At least 92 tickets should be sold to break even without profit.
To get some profit ( £787 ) we should sell out 340 ticket at £5 each. At least 184 tickets should be sold to break even without profit.
To get some profit ( £787 ) we should sell out 567 ticket at £3 each. At least 306 tickets should be sold to break even without profit.
However, the more people get involved, the more cost we much face to. Because in our games there is a kit for each team (3 people) which cost £3 at least. This means as the cost rise, the profit will shrink a lot. More detail to come after my 5000-words essay.
Love you all!
